What do you love about being a BARK employee?
BARK is incredibly supportive of the mental health of its employees, and I am so grateful for that. There is a multitude of resources available to everyone to ensure they are taking care of themselves mentally. It puts my mind at ease knowing that I am part of a team that genuinely cares about my well-being and to know there will always be someone who has my back!
One of BARKs many ERGs, Mindful Mutts, focus’ on mental health discussions regarding both in-office and at home topics. Led by Rae Kesterson, Mindful Mutts provides a safe, inclusive community full of support, resources, and education for our BARK pack. Our main objectives are to end the stigma on mental health in the workplace through advocacy, education, and awareness; this includes normalizing the honest conversations on mental health topics, advocating for business changes in relation to mental health, and offering tools & support to strengthen everyone’s mental wellness toolbox.
How does your role impact BARK’s mission of “make all dogs happy”?
I work on our BARKLove email program, which involves outreaching customers who are impacted by natural disasters like hurricanes & wildfires and checking in on them. Going the extra mile to show our pack members that we care is a small gesture that makes a huge impact. We were even able to help coordinate shipments of BarkEats meals to pups in need after Hurricane Ida. BARK wouldn’t exist without our customers & their pups and I’m grateful to be able to show them support during tough times!
Thank you, Allyson, for sharing your story with us! We’re lucky to have you!
